Bronchoscopy
Bronchoscopy is a procedure that allows doctors to look at your lungs and airways. It is usually done by a pulmonologist. During bronchoscopy, a small tube (bronchoscope) passes through your nose or mouth, down your throat and lungs. Bronchoscopy is usually performed using a flexible bronchoscope. However, in some cases, such as if there is excessive bleeding in your lungs or a large object is trapped in your respiratory tract, a strong bronchoscope may be needed. Bronchoscopy is usually performed to find the cause of a lung problem. For example, your doctor may refer you for bronchoscopy because you have a persistent cough or a rare chest X-ray.
