Overview
Overview

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the body uses a powerful magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to produce detailed pictures of the inside of your body. It may be used to help diagnose or monitor treatment for a variety of conditions within the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. MRI is helpful to find any underlying problems; it can also be helpful to locate your pregnancy.

Physical MR scan was performed to assess:

Chest and stomach organs — including the heart, liver, digestive tract, kidneys, spleen, intestines, pancreas, and adrenal glands, pelvic organs including bladder and reproductive organs such as uterus and eggs in women and prostate gland in men, blood vessels (including MR Angiography).

  1. abscesses in the chest, abdomen or waist.
  2. liver diseases, such as cirrhosis, and dysfunction of the bile ducts and pancreas.
  3. inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
  4. heart problems, such as congenital heart disease.

MRI should not be performed when:

  1. People with implants, particularly those containing iron
  2. Pregnancy
  3. Nerve Stimulation
  4. Contrast agents
